Our Story

ali and andy temaki .jpg

Temaki Bros aren’t really brothers. What they are is really obsessed with sushi. Put simply, we can’t get enough of it, and we’re itching to share our passion with you. Our hand rolls (“temaki”) are made with the freshest ingredients and a lot of love. We’ve spent years studying the art of this fine Japanese tradition and that respect is something you can taste in our food. But we’re not afraid to mix in some new flavours and ideas either. We can’t wait to see what you think - click here to see where you can find us.

Foodwise, our offerings fit into three categories:

Temaki - sushi handrolls that are our speciality.  Always made fresh to order, ranges from Tuna and cucumber with spring onions, salmon with avocados and Japanese Mayo, our signature Spicy Tuna Crunch - tuna tartared with spring onions, tempura flakes, our 7-spice togarashi on a bed of cucumber.  We also have made some obscured rolls like a steak and shiso leaf, a sea bream and fennel and a seared scallop served with a yuzu infused soy.

Donburi - Rice bowls - Our most popular are Chicken Katsu, with Japanese BBQ sauce, Aubergine and Sweet Potato Katsu, with a Citrus infused BBQ sauce and slow cooked Tori Teri Don, a derivative of a chicken teriyaki, slow cooked for about 6 hours and finished with honey under a grill.  Recently we have also introduced a Aburi Chashu Donburi, a 36 hour sous vide pork belly, sliced thin and seared by blow torch. These are typically served with an Asian slaw and pickles and on a bed of rice.

Bites and Pieces - Tapas or starter plates. Favourites include: sake tosa zukuri, a lightly seared salmon in a yuzu and grapefruit ponzo; Trio of Tuna Cubes, one is seared in a soy mirin glaze, one is fried in panko breadcrumbs for 15 seconds to give a crisp outside and delicate pink flesh inside and the last is marinated in a citrus glaze and wrapped in a sesame crust; edamame with shisho salt.  We also have a couple of salads, the favourite is a spiralized cucumber salad with our signature sesame dressing. Another vegan option is our Aubergine Katsu stack.

Broadway Market EVERY SATURDAY

On Saturdays from 10-4pm, you can find us on  Broadway Market. It’s a total honour to roll here - Broadway has an amazing reputation among foodies and is Britain’s busiest destination market. We started out in 2015 in the School Yard Market next door - pretty appropriate as that’s where we learned how to please our hungry regulars. Our flagship, rain or shine; our favourite place to be on a Saturday is Broadway.

Supper clubs and Pop-Ups

As much as we love serving you guys on the street, we love to pop up from time to time in bricks-and-mortar establishments, serving up tasting menus, whiskey pairings, and good, old-fashioned market-style sushi to order.

East London Liquor Company: This is where we hosted our most ambitious menus to date: seven course tasting menus including our renowned sake tosa zakuri (say what this is). We love working in this beautiful kitchen inside East London's coolest venue, and we reckon you’ll love enjoying our creations in their bar and distillery, complete with copper vats and brilliant wait staff.

Milroy's of Soho: Back in 2016, Milroy’s hosted a fantastic sushi & whisky pairing evening. It was a total honour to work with such a London institution, and we are pretty sure we rose to the occasion with our special rolls, including Scallop with Sansho & Yuzu-Infused Soy and our delicate Sea Bream and Fennel. We’re also pretty proud of putting out 180 rolls in just 90 minutes!

Two Doors Down: the very first time we hosted a pop-up all of our own was in an intimate coffee shop in Kentish Town: just a 12 seater, which meant perfect chance to craft market-style sushi while chatting to old friends and making some new ones.

Other markets

Eat Asia Night Market: Eat Asia is a crazy and delicious place to trade, so you can see why we feel at home here. We were delighted to be asked to feature at this brilliant event which changes venue - you can find out more about upcoming events here.

St Nick's Night Market and Love Food Festival: Our first ventures outside of London took us to St Nick's Nightmarket and Love food. Bristol's street food scene is thriving and buzzy -we can’t wait to go back. One of our favourite memories was a 72 hour sushi marathon, with St Nick's in Bristol on Friday Night, Broadway in London on Saturday, and finally Sunday morning back in Bristol for Love Food at the Paintworks! A 480 mile sushi extravaganza that we'll never forget. Click here for more info.
